Lil Wayne has become the newest rapper turned fashion designer!
Following on from the famous footsteps of Jay-Z’s Rockawear and most famously Pharell’s Billionaire Boys Club line, the New Orleans native has brought out his own line which we think represents him perfectly.
As a brand, TRUKFIT is a state of mind – it is about being yourself, having fun, being free, being driven and being able to express all these elements and more. We have many sides to our being and TRUKFIT describes them all. We have no boundaries, rules, no gender distinction, no ethnic distinction, no demographic distinction. We are young, fun loving, connected to each other and yet we are all individuals. We are free to dream, to create, to fantasize and to explore.
“The highly anticipated line of uniquely designed apparel was inspired by Lil Wayne’s passion for skateboarding and quality street wear,” a release from Agenda reads. “Pulling influence from Lil Wayne’s distinctive style and voice, Trukfit is made from quality fabrics and features bold graphics at a moderate price point.”
“When a person could spot a fake, they’d be like ‘you got on the truck fit,’” he said, “So now it’s cool to have on the Truckfit, ya dig!” Before wrapping up the night, the Young Money rapper was showered in confetti while celebrities like skateboarder Rob Dyrdek hung nearby. Check out more photos of the collection below.
Question is would you rock Trukfit?!

SPRING/ SUMMER 2011 MILAN!!
The key players in Milan showed a penchant for the all-revealing cropped tops and translucent fabrics, but mixed things up with a take on the Twenties and feminine floral prints.
Whites in Milan were bright and clinic – cut in clean lines and simple shapes. Clockwise from top left: American sportswear was the style of choice at Marni and MaxMara, while at Moschino white lace took on a frothier element. Emporio Armani saw white accessories and Jil Sander created every fashionista’s dream wedding dress.
The shoes that we found in Milan are not for the faint hearted. Clockwise from top left: perspex mega-heels at glamorous Versace (so high infact that they caused seasoned model Lindsey Wixson to take a topple!), Cadillac inspired wedges at Prada, silk florals at D&G and minimalist chic at Emporio Armani. Missoni went for extravagant florals while Bottega Veneta opted for neutral slingbacks.
Flapper girls ran amok on the Milan catwalks. Clockwise from top left: Gucci set the tone with a black and gold Great Gatsby-inspired collection and Etro quickly followed suit with beading and drop waists. Cloche hats donned models’ heads at Emporio Armani while the Jazz Age cropped up again at Roberto Cavalli and Alberta Ferretti.
Bright, brash and bold floral prints adorned almost every surface in the Italian fashion capital. Clockwise from top left: Marni’s florals came in the form of a ’60s print in pastel shade but Antonio Marras chose monochrome with fuschia splashes. Dolce & Gabbana’s food theme collection paired aubergine prints with floral jackets while Blugirl and Roberto Cavalli went for all out brights.
Stand out from the crowd with a trophy jacket next spring. Clockwise from top left: Prada’s oversized printed jackets looked similar to those in designer Miuccia’s wardrobe, Sportmax combined the florals trend with that of the standout jacket. Roberto Cavalli’s signature bling adorned blazers, while Gucci’s gold and black collection had an Art Deco feel and at Moschino, the matador’s jacket took centre stage.
Bags have got more mini by the season, and they’re now so dinky they fit perfectly in the palm of your hand. Clockwise from top left: Boxy and minty by Jil Sander; complete with blingy wrist chain at Gucci. Quilted and printed by D&G. Functional at Versus; quirky and roomy at Prada.
Powdery pastels have emerged as a front-runner for the title of key spring/summer 2012 trend. Clockwise from left: At Versus Christopher Kane fused baby pink and purple while Miuccia Prada coloured her broderie anglaise dresses in ice cream tones. Sportmax’s athletic dresses were softened in mint green while court shoes came in the palest of pastels. The pastel theme continued right down to the accessories at Prada, while sandals at Moschino Cheap’n’Chic took the pale out of pastels.
Dare to bare
The midriff trend has been brewing thanks to trendsetters Alexa Chung and Eliza Doolittle, and it has not gone unnoticed by the Italian designers. Clockwise from left: Roberto Cavalli just adds sequins; Prada’s ‘boob tubes’ were a highlight of the collection; casually layered at Antonio Marras; tight and sexy at Versace; pirate-like and elaborately lacy by Peter Dundas for Emilio Pucci; vintage glamour at Dolce & Gabbana.
Dozens of designers in Milan experimented with mixing things up a bit with translucent fabrics, proving that sheer is not only sexy but directional. Clockwise from left: a patterned jumper at Versus offers a subtle take on sheer. MaxMara served up a sporty, panelled playsuit. Sheer tartan complements the block pattern at Jil Sander. An elegantly layered underskirt by Marni. Strategically positioned block panels at Alberta Ferretti; a perforated cotton skirt at Ermanno Scervino.
Teal meets turquoise
Arguably the most vivid colour to permeate the catwalk was an exotic blue, evocative of the sea along a stretch of private beach… Clockwise from left: A flowing silk maxi skirt by Salvatore Ferragamo is the same hue as a fitted cardigan by Antonio Marras. Alberta Ferretti’s teal, bias cut gown is ideal for the red carpet. Knitwear label Missoni wove all variations of turquoise together, while a boxy dress in a block tone stole the show at MaxMara. A marble-print dress by Bottega Veneta is beautifully contrasted against dark skin.

UK FASHION HOUSES
We all know that Britain is one the most fashion forward destinations around the world. We not only get to see the latest trends but also show our personality through our fashion, yes and that does include the CHAV’s. Here ‘D’ and I have piled a list of the top fashion Houses we love and admire for the unique and individual styles.
1. We can’t say more about individuality without naming Alexander McQueen. The McQueen collections gave us a glimpse in to the world of darkness with elements of seduction (D: I would describe him as the Tim Burton of the fashion world). Not only does the brand hold true to itself and produce a variety of extravagant and tailored fashion pieces but you get a feel for a fairy tale story for each exaggerated look. Alexander McQueen the son of a taxi driver founded his career as an apprentice to the Prince of Wales’ tailor Anderson & Sheppard on Saville Row. McQueen’s career only sky rocketed from this point on and he soon made his mark by designing for Givenchy and Gucci. Most recently an infamously dressing the Duchess of Westminster in a beautiful ivy wedding gown the brand till date is one of the strongest holding British fashion houses continuing to elevate, even through difficult times.
2. Burberry– A British brand infamous for its innovation in fashion forward designs and commitment to its heritage. Burberry was founded in the 1880’s by Thomas Burberry and now after over 150 years remains to hold is position in the FTSE top 100 as a contender. Kate Moss, Agyness Deyn, Emma Watson and Rosie Hunting Whiteley are but a few beautiful British models, which have had the opportunity of representing the great British brand and elevated their career in with the company’s success. With designs from its Chief creative director ‘Christopher Bailey’ we know that for Burberry the only way is forward.
3. Vivienne Westwood OBE– The worlds fashion ‘Diva’ as we see her, the red-headed British designer is one of the most excentric and interesting fashion designers that have to offer, giving us a bit of everything with no imagination left behind. Being deeply interested in the punk fashion phenomenon of the 1970s, included BDSM fashion, bondage gear, safety pins, razor blades, bicycle or lavatory chains on clothing and spiked dog collars for jewelry, as well as outrageous make-up and hair, she has redefined our views on fashion and thinking outside of the box! Her designs have been featured on Sex and the City worn by Sarah Jessica Parker. Of her love of London Westwood states, “I love this city and its culture. I want to encourage people to love art and believe that culture can save the world. Culture is about people’s outlook on the world and along with art, is the anchor that holds us together as a people and gives life greater meaning.”
4. Amanda Wakeley OBE– Probably the most understated designer on this list, however Amanda has become a well established name within the fashion industry. Starting out in early 1990 with no design background, Wakeley began designing collections for the more mature working woman with a passion for structured yet feminine shapes. However, over the years she has managed to break out of her target audience to appeal to a wider demographic and it worked! Designing clothing exclusively for artists and actresses alike from Beyoncé, Demi Moore, Leona Lewis, Angelina Jolie to Kristen Stewart. among many others. Although she has endured many ups and downs within her business and personal life her collections have remained strong and her fans faithful.
5. Bruce Oldfield OBE– Brought up and educated in the care of the children’s charity, Barnardo’s, Oldfield is best known for his high-profile couture collections. Oldfield had shown his talent to the world in 1970 whilst designing for European and American markets alike before elevating his success with his couture collection for many individual clients. Over the years he has dressed the likes of actresses, Royalty and European Aristocracy including Catherine Zeta Jones, Diana Ross, Emmanuelle Seigner, Taylor Swift, Elizabeth McGovern, Rosamund Pike, Joan Collins, Queens Noor and Rania of Jordan and of course Diana Princess of Wales. Now Oldfield has expanded his ever growing success into a Bridal wear collection which is highly successful.
THROWDOWN OF THE WEEK!
This weeks Throwdown thrusts together an Upper East Sider with a Heavyweight Pop Artist, add a Michael Kors gown and you’ve got yourselves a (fashion) battle!
D: Leighton Meester’s slender figure takes centre stage out of the two. The dress highlights her figure in the right ways whilst her styling (or lack there of) provides a simple yet glamorous look perfect for a movie premier.
Beyoncé has a fuller figure (not a bad thing!) but the dress takes away from her shape and makes her look square. As she doesn’t have a more defined waist like Leighton, the dress didn’t highlight her shape in the way that it’s supposed to. (Love the Earings and Alexander McQueen clutch though the hair not so much)!
But enough of my thoughts, let’s see what you lovely ladies think :)
X- FACTOR TIME….. Round 2..
Last week we saw Danni and Cheryl take the title of being queens of our W factor A: however this week i feel like ‘Team A’ Tulisa in particular step it up a lil’, she was looking gorgeous in her long black and cream mullet dress, with her hair pulled back (very classy) and oh so fab red lipstick (bang on trend) and even though in general the looks for week 2 from both teams are (dare i say it) boring ‘im in full support of ‘Team A’.
Find out who we voted for, what we had to say, and of course vote and be your own judges for your fav. look of the W factor…. click in to our ‘Mango Room’.
X- FACTOR TIME…….
Yes the X factor is back, yes there’s new judges and YES the rules have changed a lil……but lets be honest ladies we don’t really care about all that, it’s all about who’s wearing what for us! and so we’ve decided to have a weekly post on the W (wardrobe) Factor (geniuses I know), Team A: Kelly,Tulisa Vs Team B: Cheryl, Danni.
So the show opened and A: I for one could wait to see how these ladies were going to out-do Cheryl Cole and Danni Minogue, and as interesting as the dresses were personally they could have done better. Round 1 goes to Team B in my opinion, however and going to let all the lipstickers decided and vote.
D: I totally disagree, I think Team A took this round for the simple fact that I feel that Kelly and Tulisa wear clothing that reflects their personalities rather than because they were told to wear it to make an impact.
You decide your winners for round 1
WINNERS TEAM B
THROWDOWN OF THE WEEK!
Well we all know the saying..Age vs. Beauty (not that Jane isn’t beautiful). Both Ciara and Jane Fonda look fabulous in this gown…
…But Jane Fonda proves time and time again that beauty doesn’t have a timeline and I gotta say she pulled it off. Sorry CC!
THROWDOWN OF THE WEEK!
Well Ladies, throughout the worlds fashion capitals designers have been providing us with the hottest of looks for the Spring/ Summer 2012 collections. And what better way to make an impact than kicking off our first edition with Gucci!
Now I know that it’s not from next season’s collection (don’t worry there will be some!) But I thought this week we’d begin with a challenge because as you can see both women look STUNNING in this dress but personally (D) Drew has the upper hand (sorry j-lo)
WINNER DREW BARRYMORE
Winter in UK has always been this grey, dark and slightly depressing time of the year and we here at Lipstickbreak were thinking that it may be time for some change, so don’t fall in to the winter fo pa and let’s make a change, starting with a little re-vamp in our wardrobes by adding some fresh new colour!
Great colours for this winter season are……..
We saw a huge amount of reds at the recent 2011 Emmy’s and the dresses didn’t disappoint either. Red is the must have and ‘IT’ colour for this season, a colour which is very sophisticated, playful and dominating.
Giuliana Rancic in Roberto Cavalli, Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan, Lea Michele in Marchesa, Sarah Hyland in a pink one-shoulder dress by Christian Siriano and Nancy O’Dell in Lorena Sarbu
We picked our favorite look from the evening and it has to go to Nina Dobrev in Donna Karan. She look beautiful clean and HOTT!
Okay so enough of the Emmy’s, let’s get back to creating a colourful winter wardrobe starting with….
1. ASOS- Paprika Bodycon Dress With Crochet Back – £32.00
2. Burberry- SINGLE BREASTED QUILTED JACKET– £325.00
Adding green to your wardrobe provides a subtle but a big difference to your look, if you’re not as daring in colouring it up for this season why not try a hint of green, have a look at our favourite choice below from our favourite stores:
1. Zara- Patch Pocket Blazer-£79.99
2. Emerson Thorpe-Solid Tassels Dress- $286.00

1. Zara blazer- Blazer with Wide lapels- £69.99
2.Mango- Mock Wrap Dress- £42.90
3.Raoul- High Waisted Wide Leg Pants– $245.00

1. Gucci– Rever Blazer– £1160
2. Chloe- See by Chloe Scoop Neck Velvet Dress– Was £315.00 NOW £94.00
So over 150 years of designing came together within their Women’s Spring/ Summer 2012 collection. The collection was strong, bold, influential and with a front row full of these faces you KNOW that the fashion has gotta be good!
Among the models and star studded audience present in Hype Park included Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Kanye West, Sienna Miller, Gemma Arterton, Andy Murray, Mario Testino, Tali Lennox, Ellie Goulding, Laura Bailey, Lily Donaldson, Emmanuelle Alt, Cara Delevingne, Edie Campbell and Jourdan Dunn!!
Burberry didn’t disappoint with their stunning collection and proved that they are still the ONLY brand to use digital media to debut their collections. Airing the first ‘Tweetwalk’ through Twitter and providing easy access to stream the show through their website as well as many others.
Catch some of the highlights below I know for sure this will be a poor YEAR for me as I wanna buy every piece!
FROM THE BOLD TO THE BEAUTIFUL !
Fashion takes us to an alternative yet beautiful world! Here me and A have collected a few of our favorite looks debuted within Paris Fashion Week that we believe will be key for this season (and some of them we wish we could rock because they are just beautiful)
Flawless majestic gowns by : Ellie Saab, Bea: Valentino, and Alexander McQueen
Featuring more edgy and retro style for this winter Chanel and Giambattista Valli.
Continuing the summer colour block trend Giambattista Valli and Chloe.
John Galliano shows us just how its done, his collection remains timeless and adds elements of Fur, with subtle and neutral colour tones.
In line with John Galliano, latest collection Hermes, gives us luxury at its best (featured eagle a touch of genius..)
And finally the colour ‘Teal’ is massively in for this winter, as seen here in Gucci’s collection D: Best pic of them all has to be this Gucci number! It’s just stunning!
To get these looks at a more affordable price keep in tuned with our up coming fashion post!!
Within the UK we have an array of models and supermodels alike who have paved the way for many young women today to successfully enter the modelling industry. These women had put Britain on the map from a very young age and had proved to the world that we are in the same ranks as Paris, Milan and the US in terms of fashion. Within today’s industry, it has become the norm to see a model who has that great mix of personality, brains, outgoing styles, fashion forward attitudes and of course beauty. But here are a few of the original models from the UK.
“I hated what I looked like, so I thought everyone had gone stark raving mad.”
This list would not be complete without Twiggy, just like the Modelling world would be incomplete without her influence!
Best known for her large eyes, long eyelashes, thin build and trademark short hair (which turned her into the icon that she is today) Twiggy had been one of the first international supermodels of the 1960’s era! Standing at 5’6″ tall, weighing of a mere 6½ stone and with a 31-22-32 figure, she had been described as ” a new kind of streamlined, androgynous sex appeal.”
Twiggys life changing moment came in January 1966, when celebrity hairdresser Leonard colored and cut her hair in Mayfair at The House of Leonard for a few test head shots- of the Cut! Professional photographer Barry Lategan took some headshots of Twiggy within the salon when her images fell into the hands of a fashion journalist from a British newspaper. The editor then featured her head shots within The Daily Express in February 1966 with the title “The Face of ’66.” The caption read: “The Cockney Kid with a face to launch a thousand shapes … and she’s only 16!
Taking the fashion world by storm, by 1967 Twiggy had already featured in some of the world’s top fashion magazines, been photographed by notable photographers of the era and had also started her own fashion line named, ‘Twiggy Dresses’. But had received mixed reaction from the Press (then again- who doesn’t these days!), stating that it had been her thin image that had played a part in today’s anorexia debate, however me and A believe Twiggy when she said, “”I was very skinny, but that was just my natural build. I always ate sensibly – being thin was in my genes.”
Expanding her talents to theater, movies and singing as well as lending a hand to the ‘America’s Next Top Model’ panel. Twiggy has continued to stay within the public limelight and remains to this day a style and fashion icon!
”Everyone’s projecting onto you, or you feel like everyone is judging you. I feel like I’m being judged a lot of the time. You become really self-conscious.”
Best known for her waifish figure and, popularizing the heroin chic look in the 1990s, which made her the supermodel that she is today. Standing at 5’7” tall.
Discovered at a New York airport after a family holiday by a Storm Model Management representative at the tender age of 14, Moss’s career took off at the age of 16 when Corrine Day shot black and white photographs of her for British magazine The Face, in a photo shoot titled “The 3rd Summer of Love”.
She was known as the ‘anti model’ of the 90’s due to her waif look 1993, when compared to the models of the moment such as Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford who each had curves. Moss later described the backlash she received as being, ”..a scapegoat. The media had to put responsibility on somebody, and I was chosen. They felt free to say that because someone was thin they were anorexic, which is ridiculous. ” Despite this, Moss quickly shot to fame with her notable work both print and runway as she proved to be one of the most influential models of the ’90s.
Over the years Moss has received many awards for her individual fashion style and is mostly known for being a fashion icon worldwide. Like Twiggy, Moss too has expanded her talents to comedy and acting features, musician, singing and fashion design whilst remaining active within her modelling career as well as notable charity works.
”I’m always trying to do the impossible to please people. It comes from not being secure in myself and not looking at the things within I have to fix. Sometimes you keep going because you don’t want to face the truth. ”
Discovered on the streets of London’s Covent Garden in 1986 when she was just fifteen years old by Beth Boldt of Synchro modelling agency. Naomi soon had the entire fashion world clamouring to capture her inimitable look. Her first cover shoot was for British Elle. Naomi was the first black model to appear on the covers of TIME magazine, and French and British Vogue.
Standing at 5’9”, she has worked with the greatest photographers in the world including Patrick DeMarchelier, Steven Meisel, Richard Avedon, Herb Ritts, Ellen von Unwerth, Mario Testino and Peter Lindbergh.Campbell quickly conquered the fashion industry and achieved iconic status around the world with her incomparable physique and electrifying presence. Since stepping into the limelight she has set runways and magazine covers ablaze with a sophisticated, sultry style and singular no-nonsense attitude that together have made her an international celebrity and fashion authority.
During the early years of her modelling career Campbell had faced much discrimination, however this only fuelled her into becoming the icon that she is today. Among her many accomplishments she had been the first Black model to grace the cover of the French Vogue in 1988 (after Yves St Laurent threatened to pull their ads if they didn’t use Black models on their covers- No pressure!). Following this, she appeared on the cover of American Vogue, which marked the first time a black model graced the front of the September issue (traditionally the year’s biggest and most important issue.)
In early 1990, Campbell, who was declared “the reigning megamodel of them all”, had along with Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, and Tatjana Patitz been cast to star in George Michael’s Freedom! video and on an iconic cover of British Vogue, shot by Peter Lindbergh. With this they, along with Kate Moss, formed an elite group declared “supermodels” by the fashion industry collectively known as the “Big Six”.
Like Twiggy and Moss, Naomi too has expanded her talents to many acting roles whilst remaining active within her modelling career as well as notable charity works.
“I’d rather send my money on cool experiences than on expensive clothes.”
In 1997 at the age of fifteen, she was discovered by Italian fashion designer Stephan Jansen, whilst on vacation in Morocco. In her he saw that she possessed something special, and he wasn’t just referring to her pretty face and 5’11” stature- she had that model oomph. Jansen then asked her to go to Milan and appear in his fashion show which she declined. Later that year, she was stopped in England on her way to a salon in Knightsbridge by noted fashion photographer Mario Testino and posed for French Vogue.
By the time she was 17 she became one of the most sought-after faces in the modelling world with none other than Gucci wanting to include her within their ad campaigns! Wheeler continued to complete her studies and would often take off days to shoot for fashion companies, such as Calvin Klein, Prada, and The Gap.
In 1999, The Face magazine declared her the ‘Model of the Millennium’. Designers have continued to embrace her androgynous, waif look. In 2002, The Sunday Times named her one of Britain’s highest paid models. Wheeler’s list of clients ranges from Shiatzy Chen, Burberry to Versace.
By 2002, Jacquetta’s list of clients was huge, including major labels Givenchy, Salvatore Ferragamo, Valentino, John Galliano, Cacharel, and Cerruti. That same year, she had been dubbed one of Britain’s highest paid supermodels, having made in £2.65 million over the course of one year!
At the age of 29, Jacquetta has managed to keep her personal life, well personal! However, despite this her career is still going strong and she is currently continuing her studies at university.
I’m sure that you can all agree that the above Women- as influential as they are, have paved the way for many of today’s young models to breakout into the industry and leave their own imprint in the wonderful world of modelling! Just take a look at the magnificent Jourdan Dunn!
”I’m starting to feel more secure in who I am now. Being from an Afro- Caribbean family, being black, skinny, isn’t really acceptable in that community; it’s all about having curves and stuff.”
”There are loads of Black models working and the idea that there’s only a few of us, or four of us, to let in as top models at any one time is just bullshit”
Best known for her groundbreaking walk on the Prada runway in 2008 and I say this because she had been the first Black model to do so in over a decade after Naomi Campbell.
Dunn had been discovered whilst shopping within a Primark store in 2006 at the age of 16 and from there her career shortly took off to astounding heights! Making her runway debut within New York runway shows in late 2007 for the likes of Marc Jacobs and Polo Ralph Lauren among others, this girl proved to the world that she is here to stay. She has garnered attention for her legs and for her walk which she practices frequently with very tall heels showing that hard work does pay off- Plus with a beautiful face and tall slender figure, who can go wrong!
Shortly after, in 2007, she was featured on British Vogue as a rising “new star,” and in 2008 she had been listed as one of the top 10 newcomers. In July 2008, she appeared on the cover of the controversial Italian Vogue issue which had been devoted entirely to black models, check the spread below!
Since her explosive runway and print modelling ventures, Dunn has been featured on many Vogue covers as well as being featured on and within many other fashion dedicated magazines such as Luella and Elle. You think that’s a lot, but Dunn shows no signs of slowing down at all! Modelling for Gap, Topshop, Jaeger, Asos, Benetton, H&M, Victoria’s Secret, Saks Fifth Avenue, Yves Saint Laurent, Burberry, and Calvin Klein.
Her efforts and presence within the modelling industry within her few short years active had all been worth it when in November 2008, Dunn was named “Best Model of the Year” at the British Fashion Awards! We definitely cannot wait to see what the future holds for this bright young star after achieving so much at the age of 21 we believe that she is definitely in the ranks to become an iconic British model like some of her predecessors.
‘A STAR BRITISH LOOK’
In light of our British week, we chose British darling Emma Watson as our A-star look of the week. We’ve watched little Hermoine Granger grow before our eyes and here are our fav style moments in our style evolution countdown.
A: Personally i think her style has transformed amazingly, especially after her cute pixie haircut. Watson’s red carpet looks have most recently made a bold statement and her style can be identified as the pretty edgy.
Above is our fav Emma Watson looks from her reign of red carpet dresses. The first look maybe an old 2009 style choice but we think this floral number is when she made her mark the dress was fun, pretty and most certainly ladylike, plus we give her props for pulling off the floral number in the rain. This vintage dress from iconic British designer Ossie Clark defiantly was the first strike of Emma’s fashion success. The second look has to go down as our favourite eevvverr Watson red carpet moment. This black lace dress by Rafael Lopez is fun, flirty, sexy and sophisticated without looking the tad bit slutty. Watson really wowed us with her slick hair, the risky dress and the minimal jewellery (which she seems to be a fan off) she really out did her look on the red carpet for this occasion.
Emma Watson’s is not only one of Britain’s youngest breakthrough stars, but can easily be seen as one of the leading young ladies in the British style awards winning style icon at this years Elle style awards..
What do you think about Emma Watson’s style? Or would you have liked to see another British beauty featured as the A list star? Why not leave us a comment or join our Facebook page to make your views count.
‘THROWDOWN OF THE WEEK-UK vs US’
Thought we’d have a little throwback from March and June of this year concerning the cover of 2 issues of L’Officiel and Vogue Japan (Awkward!)
Naomi Campbell and her sultry stare cover the June issue of Vogue Japan in a fringed Gucci garment Beyoncé wore in March, for L’Officiel’s controversial 90th anniversary issue. Naomi wore her version with hip-length hair, while Beyoncé donned an up do and gold lips.
D:I hate to say it, but it’s obvious who won this round.. :( Boo!………
A: Well ‘D’ it is a bit ovb’s isn’t it, cos Beyoncé is looking smoking hot!!! ‘TEAM BEYONCE’
Let’s see your votes.. UK or US..?
‘THROWDOWN OF THE WEEK’
For this weeks fashion throwdown we decided to mix it up a little bit, so instead of comparing two celebrities with the same outfit we decided to choose two fashion designers who are selling the same product…
First up is Burberry featuring the Biker-Sleeve Trench Coat- £1.795
Our second designer is Top Shop, with their version Stone Faux Leather Arm Belted Trench Coat-£90
Same coat, different fabrics, cuts and cost but you will be the judge of this weeks fashion throwdown victim.
‘THROWDOWN OF THE WEEK’
This week’s style-off is between the always pretty Leighton Meester as her alter ego Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl, and Dita Von Teese the burlesque queen.
The dress is by Alexis Mabille in his fall 2010 couture line
This weeks a toughy so think hard before you choose
A STAR LOOK- ‘KATE MIDDLETON’
Kate Middleton hit Canada and California for a tour recently, where she had plenty of opportunities to show us her place within the fashion world, and we must say we where impressed. She stuck to her demure and sophisticated look. Her style mostly consists of mid knee-length dresses and Sabrina necklines (a straight neckline that was favored by Audrey Hepburn). Saying that we often see very similar looks from Kate, which can get a little boring. She tends to keep on the safe side, to the point were some of her looks become a bit blah, but saying that there are moments were she knocks it out of the ballpark with her style.
Tempted to say my favourite is the Alexandra McQueen lilac gown she wore at the Bafta charity dinner. But from Kate’s look i favor the one were she steps out from the airport, in a beautiful Erdem lace dress. A little step away from all the prim and proper looks Kate always sticks to, the lace gives Kate an edgier look (well as edgy as the Duchess can get).
To see the dress within the Erdem line visit: http://www.erdem.co.uk/collections/pre_spring_2012.php#pic20
Here is how to get her look!
1.The first is very reminiscent of Kate’s. A navy dress from FCUK- £87
2.This dress is a cheaper version to the first one and changes up the look a little with no sleeves and a cute peter pan collar. ASOS- £45
1. The first is a nude patent leather pump. ALDO- £60
2. For a cheaper alternative, this is a leather court shoe from NEW LOOK- £29.99
This is a faux snakeskin cluch by Jasper Conran available at DEBENHAMS- £22
This is a real find, with a strong resemblance to the Duchess’ sapphire ring. NORDSTORN-£21.06
Hope you enjoyed this weeks A Star look. Until next week,
We know that some can find it hard to accessorize, whereas others find that they can naturally add that Umph needed for any outfit without even thinking. Whichever category you fall into we’re here to help. Over the years there has been a huge development in how accessories are worn, there’s more colour, shapes and size differences and we for one could not be happier, as this gives us more options to play about with.
The bigger the jewellery the better the look that’s my personal motto (A). But there is a fine line and you have to know when to say no or your look may end up OTT. Our favourite high street store at the moment that is working wonders with its current jewellery collection is FCUK.
Using the Box Chain Drop Necklace from Fcuk, (currently priced @ £18 from £30) as the key element we have put together this chic simple and affordable look.
Jumpsuit-Fcuk £33 from £87, Black Clutch bag-Warehouse £45, Shoes- Aldo £54.98 from £70, Bangles-Asos £7.
The outfit works great because of the shapes used, which align together to flow throughout the look. The element of gold adds a luxury feel to the style, while the black pulls and the holds the look strong. Keeping your hair simple and sleek in a high ponytail will only compliment and highlight your features of a lightly, refreshed face.
Let’s look and feel fab together girls (p.s Fcuk sale has now reached 75% off on selected lines;D)
‘GOOD BYE MR POTTER’
So I won’t lie.. I will be sad to say a final farewell to the Harry Potter franchise! It has been a constant occurrence within my life since It was 2001. But my sadness is nothing compared to the1000 strong crowd who had been camping out in Trafalgar Square since Monday 3 days AHEAD of the premier just to get the best glimpse of the stars last ever walk down the red carpet.
However for the poor sods who had travelled from near and far to see the stars were told to take down their Tents as the ‘cluttered’ the square. And true to British weather they were graced with none other than… RAIN! (crazy)
Within the crowds we have seen firsthand grown men dressed as school children (creepy..) along with high schoolers and families who will all be very sorry that the story has now come to an end. But all campers managed to keep their spirits high in the cold weather.
However, in a teary goodbye to over 10 years of their life the cast of Harry Potter alongside writer JK Rowling together and signed autographs for customers as they made their way into the cinema.
Emma Watson and her final comments about the movie.
I’m sure many of you Potter fans out there will be visiting the cinemas soon to view the film and say your final goodbye to Harry, Ron and Hermionie but for now.. let’s just admire their style!
Tom Felton aka Draco Malfoy with his girlfriend.
Emma Watson aka Hermionie Granger looking effortlessly beautiful in a silver and pale blue Oscar de la Renta dress.
A teary entry for both JK Rowling and Emma.
Beautiful gowns worn by the female leads and writer!
Not to forget the leading men.. Daniel Radcliffe (far left), Oliver and James Phelps (top right), Ralph Fiennes ( bottom left) and Tom Felton (Bottom left).
Harry Potter stories will remain in its glory through generation to come, but let’s say our farewells, to the three little kids that let us be a part of the ‘Harry potter’ world.
We all know how much it costs to buy and keep your wardrobe updated enough, that you’re in with the latest fashion trends. Sometimes a little goes a long way and our philosophy is to invest in great pieces so that you can wear them for more than one season.
Our must have product for this week is ‘a blazer’. Blazers are great for all body shapes, ideal for a variety of looks and depth can be added to any look for more of a stylish appeal. Who wouldnt want to have somthing that can be worn from day to night?.
Either way a good investment goes a long way.
Let’s see how it’s done:
From the likes of Lauren Conrad, Kourtney and Kim Kardashian to Sienna Miller, these beauties pull off the day look wearing the same type of standard black blazer.
Olivia Palermo (personal Fav) and Jennifer Aniston show us how to work with a blazer.
Kim Kardashian, Kate Moss and Olivia Palermo, show us how to vamp up wearing a blazer by adding a lil’ dress, different shaded or printed for a great evening look.
You can purchase this blazer from Zara for £79.99. A little pricey we know, but it’s a investment for your wardrobe that you won’t be disappointed with. Other stores with a good variation of blazers include: ASOS, Karen Millen, H&M (if your on a budget) and Topshop.
All we need is ‘A blazer’
Its the end of the week ladies and we thought we’d treat you with a fun throwdown of the week. Now both stars are wearing the same gorgeous outfits from the Gucci Spring 2011 line, but only one gains our vote for looking stuunning!
Our first lady is the always beautiful Kim K. (D: I think she’s overly plastic.. but then again that’s just me!) Now i can go on and on about whats wrong with this on Miss Kardashian, but i’ll keep it short this time.
- Too tight
- Belly hanging out
- The dress arms are too big, especially around the shoulders
- Body looks top heavy
- ….And lastly it looks like if the dress gets any more tighter all her lady parts will fall out
Now her rival is the fresh faced star of Winter’s Bone, X-men First class (Mystique) and the much awaited movie Hunger Games.
Erm….. yeah i’ll jus let this image do the talking.
A- STAR LOOK
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley one of the hottest names in the celebrity world right now. She has the looks, the body and the acting skills (ummm maybe im pushing it a lil…so scratch that last bit).
Theres no doubt that Rosie is georgous and has many talents, but right now acting is not one of them, from her latest and mind you first big movie role in Transformers 3 ‘Dark of the Moon’ and hopefully final sequal, Whiteley plays ‘Carly’ the new love interest in Shia Labeouf’s ‘Sam Witwicky’ life. As beautiful as she looked in each scene she didnt do the role justice and may need to stick to her day job. Despite her acting flaws she has one thing that you cannot fault poise, fashion sense and the ability to look effortlessly sexy. This week we saw a string of red carpet appreances where Rosie looked stunning from premier to premier.
Rosie wearing Gucci at the Moscow premier. This dress had all the elements of a perfect red carpet gown, it was edgy, bold and yet remained sheek. The gown presented a floral appliqué asymmetrical top with a sheer full-length black skirt accented with a simple black belt.
Whiteley at the Moscow premier.
From Gucci, Burberry to Michael Kors Rosie created a look of glamour and elegance. We all know what this means move over Blake Lively the fashion world has a new muse! Designers will be throwing clothes at her to wear no matter the cost and i mean who wouldnt? Having started her modelling career with Victoria Secret and Burberry, Whiteley will be soaring through her celebrity status in no time.
We for one are glad to see Whiteley a British born and bread woman taking the world by storm…( excluding the movie world of course!). What are your thoughts…
